Banana You can use a fresh or frozen bananas. Frozen banana will give the smoothie extra creaminess. Also, highly recommend using ripe and speckled bananas for more sweetness.

Dark Leafy Green Any dark leaf like kale, spinach or Swiss chard will do. The darker the green, the more nutrients. I love using kale but I make sure to cut out the stalk for easier blending and taste.

Frozen Mango The mango will give the tropical taste we are after. If you don’t have mango, pineapple is a great option. You want to use a light color fruit to keep the vibrant green color.

Vanilla Protein Powder This is an optional ingredient. I like using protein powder to make the smoothie more filling and it will help create a thicker, creamier consistency. Plant Fusion‘s vanilla bean protein powder is my all-time favorite.

Spirulina A wonderful nutrient-packed superfood. Spirulina has a strong taste, so a little goes a long way. When blended in the smoothie, you hardly even know it’s there.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana or fresh
  • 1 cup frozen mango or pineapple
  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp spirulina powder
  • 1 cup plant milk or coconut water

Instructions

  • Throw all ingredients into a blender and blend on high until smooth.
  • Depending on your blenders power, you may need to stop blending and scrape down the sides of the blender. If its still not blending, add a few splashes of water to help the blender.
  • Serve in a cup with some fresh berries, granola and nut butter or enjoy on it's own.
